I am a graduate of Vanderbilt University with masters degrees from George Washington U., Virginia Tech, and GMU. After graduation from Vanderbilt, I served for three years in the Marine Corps including a tour in Viet Nam. I am a retired Fairfax County public school teacher and counselor who is currently embarked on a six-year intellectual odyssey that I hope will result in a Ph.D. in U.S. history.
Following retirement , I worked for four years as a legislative assistant in the Virginia House of Delegates. Several years ago I completed a solo cross-country bike ride that took nine weeks and covered 4,000 miles and eleven states. My primary volunteer activity involves a weekly shift as a suicide hotline worker in Arlington. I am married with two grown daughters. My wife and best friend Janis is also a retired school employee.
